Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a collaborative therapeutic approach that uses focused attention, relaxation, and guided imagery to help clients access their natural ability to create change. Contrary to popular myths, hypnosis is not mind control—it’s a state of heightened focus and awareness, similar to being deeply absorbed in a book or movie. You remain in control throughout the process and can stop at any time.

How it Works

During hypnotherapy, the clinician guides you into a relaxed, focused state where your mind is more open to positive suggestions and self-reflection. This process can help uncover patterns, strengthen coping strategies, and reduce emotional or physical distress. Sessions are tailored to each person’s goals or intentions, whether those involve stress reduction, anxiety management, pain control, sleep improvement, habit change, performance enhancement, or self-acceptance and compassion.

What to Expect

Each session typically lasts 50 minutes. Your therapist will begin by discussing your goals or intentions, then guide you through relaxation and focused attention exercises. You’ll remain awake, aware, and able to recall what happens during the session. Most clients begin noticing changes after a few sessions, depending on the goal or intention and readiness for change.
