Anxiety Relief
At some point in our lives, we all experience anxiety. For some of us though, anxiety starts to interfere with our quality of life and makes the easiest tasks become a burden. When the feeling of dread is always there, your daily life is affected, or you are experiencing panic attacks, our team can help you address those symptoms and explore routines to manage your anxiety.
If you have been actively avoiding situations that trigger your anxiety, or finding ways to numb the feelings, we can help you find more adaptive ways of coping.
What are the common ways that anxiety presents:
You may experience shortness of breath
You might have insomnia or difficulty getting to bed
You may notice racing thoughts
You might experience heart palpitations or pounding heart
You might need to go to the washroom more often and experience other body related symptoms
Your attention to your work or school work might suffer
Thinking about a future event may cause you to feel shut down and detached
Your muscles may feel tight
What is a Panic Attack?
A panic attack is extreme anxiety with symptoms like the above, but experienced so intensely that you might feel you are having a medical crisis or that you are going to pass out. In the absence of any actual medical problem, it is treated as anxiety. You will be taught strategies to recognize things that are triggering your anxiety, actions you can take to recognize and reduce your anxious thoughts and increase your bodies defences against these physical symptoms.

Therapy for Panic Attacks
TherapyWorks is a neurodiversity affirming agency, and therefore, we might explore ways of assisting you with anxiety that are more helpful for people whose brains process information differently. Our therapists are very familiar with traditional approaches to anxiety, but may expand on those to increase the success of your therapy.
