Treatment for Depression
Finding the Right Depression Therapist
Research shows again and again that the effectiveness of the therapy or counselling is affected by the relationship you have with your therapist or counsellor. It is therefore important that you find someone who you feel comfortable with and whom you can build a trusting relationship. You can set up a short consultation with one of our therapists to find out if it will be a good fit for you.

When to Seek Help
We all experience "down" or unhappy days. However, when someone is experiencing clinical depression, every day is difficult. Depression can impact our ability to sleep, eat, work, enjoy our favourite activities. If these feelings last for a couple of weeks or more, it is important to seek help to manage your depression, find strategies to aide your recovery and manage the thoughts that pull you onto depression's side.
Depression can push you into a place where you lose your confidence and your feelings of self worth. Our therapists can help you regain your self esteem and rebuild your relationships with friends, family and your community.
What approaches are used by Therapy Works
We will advise you to work with your primary care provider, if you have one. For some individuals, it is helpful for counselling to work alongside their medical treatment for depression. Our therapists will work collaboratively with your health care team. Talk therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialbetical Behaviour Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy are often used. Our clinicians will make use of other integrative therapy approaches as well.
At TherapyWorks, we know that reaching out for counselling is a big step, and sometimes getting to an office can be another hurdle. We offer phone, online, in person, walk and talk, and mobile therapies. Reach out to see if one of our team members is available to connect with you in a creative way if attending an office is a barrier.
